Leadership and investment: the main challenges for cyber

David Belder, CIO of Verint Systems, explains why top managers are hard to convince. “We aren’t a target”, they say, “We work in retail”. But everyone is a cyber crime target these days. And it is the job of CIOs to make sure that top management know and accept that.

And according to David Belder, the second part of the cyber security challenge is getting the right budget, in the face of competing claims from other, customer-facing, parts of the business. The trouble is that the cost of ownership for information security tools isn’t cost of the software. The real cost is the manpower required to operate that software. Tools that automate automate detection and remediation can bring this cost down.

At #teissLondon2017 in London, expert speakers addressed 400 information security industry leaders as part of discussions on how to build an agile cyber security culture.
