US bash UK for Digital Services Tax

US political leaders and business groups are trying to hit back against a UK Digital Services Tax on sales by technology giants. New taxes will be different from taxes on corporate profits that are already paid by these companies and will be deducted as a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of digital services.

Kevin Brady, a Republican from Texas, called the measure “troubling” and said “If the United Kingdom or other countries proceed, that will prompt a review of our US tax and regulatory approach to determine what actions are appropriate to ensure a level playing field in global markets”.
